Pacific Energy powers nearly 30% of Abra Base Metals Mine with FIMER

Pacific Energy, an industry leader in remote energy solutions, was tasked with constructing a hybrid power station for the Abra Base Metals Mine to lower operating costs and reduce its carbon footprint. The challenge was to ensure reliable power for the remote mine site, which is located in a harsh desert environment with extreme summer temperatures. To meet this need, Pacific Energy engaged vendor FIMER to utilize their PVS980 central inverters as part of the solar farm solution.

FIMER implemented a solution using two PVS980-58 central inverters, which were selected for their cost-effectiveness and high-temperature performance capabilities. The inverters' proprietary cooling technology allowed them to operate reliably in the extreme heat. The resulting solar farm and battery storage system, commissioned with FIMER's support, now provides nearly 30% of the mine's power needs. This has an expected annual output of over 16,602 MWh and reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 11,800 tonnes per annum.
