Royal Mail - Customer Case Study

Royal Mail faced legacy L&D challenges during rapid digital transformation: too much training content for employees to navigate, poor analytics and insight into learning needs, a small L&D team with tight budgets, and a need to upskill managers. To address this, Royal Mail deployed magpie — Filtered’s intelligent learning recommendations engine (introduced to the business by QA) — as a 12‑month pilot to test whether curated, AI‑driven recommendations could simplify learning and surface relevant content.

Filtered remapped 430 external articles, videos and podcasts to Royal Mail’s competency framework, selected 60 high‑quality internal courses, and used magpie’s analytics to iterate content and run targeted engagement campaigns. The result: 23% of managers signed up, 90% of magpie recommendations were marked relevant, internal content receives 2× the engagement of external items, and courses launched from magpie see higher completion rates — demonstrating Filtered’s impact in enabling a data‑led, scalable L&D strategy.
