Reach Plc, the UK’s largest national and regional news publisher, faced a rapidly changing media market and the need to future‑proof its workforce after mergers and a drastic reduction in L&D staff. With an outdated LMS, low awareness of learning opportunities and a shift to digital-first skills, Reach needed a scalable, learner‑centric solution—supplied by Filtered via its magpie platform.
Filtered implemented magpie as the keystone of Reach’s relaunched "Your Development" ecosystem, delivering personalized short-form recommendations, a custom management toolkit and actionable learning analytics to drive a data-led L&D approach. As a result, Reach’s employee learning engagement score rose from 6.3 to 7.1 (out of 10), its relevant net promoter score increased by 12%, a third of users became ‘super-users’, and magpie’s insights are now used to prioritise talent and communication strategies.
