Grailed is a peer-to-peer marketplace for high-end men’s clothing that was struggling with its largest bottleneck: managing image uploads and storage for an image-heavy app. Looking to offload that work, Grailed adopted Filestack for its file picker (uploading from local drives, social media, and webcams) and general image handling capabilities to replace their in-house upload pipeline.

Using Filestack’s picker and on-demand image transformation, Grailed changed from storing multiple static image derivatives to keeping a single master file and converting images on the fly, reducing storage complexity and cost. Filestack now helps Grailed handle millions of images a day, cut developer integration work, virtually eliminate media-related technical debt, and provide engineering-level implementation support as the marketplace scales.
