Wedgies is a real-time social polling platform used by millions of people every month and by publishers like The Weather Channel, Engadget and The Next Web. To let users include photos and animated GIFs in polls without forcing them to download files first, Wedgies evaluated building the functionality in-house but chose Filestack for its clear documentation, API, and especially its URL upload tool that finds images across the web and social platforms.

Filestack’s URL upload feature and integrations were implemented to let users pull images directly from Facebook, Instagram, Giphy and other sources, reducing Wedgies’ development time and simplifying the upload experience. As a result Wedgies saw faster integration, higher participation and richer polls—supporting millions of votes per month and viral moments like the “white and gold vs. blue and black” dress—outcomes Wedgies attributes to Filestack’s API and tooling.
