A Figma Case Study
Zoom Video Communications faced a growing design challenge: a lean, globally distributed design team (roughly 1 designer to 10 engineers) was slowed by a fragmented toolchain—Sketch, InVision/Framer, and Zeplin—requiring designers to sync files 10–20 times per project and manage reviews across multiple platforms. To solve this, Zoom adopted Figma, leveraging its real-time collaboration, commenting, and Team Libraries as a single, web-based design source of truth.
By standardizing on Figma, Zoom eliminated much of the manual syncing and sharing overhead, enabled simultaneous brainstorming with cross-functional teams, and built a componentized design system with live updates and constraints. Figma’s collaboration and libraries improved transparency and feedback quality—“the amount and quality of feedback is ten times better”—and made the design process more scalable and efficient as Zoom continues to grow.
