University of the Arts London - Customer Case Study

The University of the Arts London faced a fragmented digital presence across six colleges, each maintaining its own site and style, which led to inconsistent user experiences and slow, siloed workflows. To address collaboration and versioning problems discovered while redesigning the university website, the UX team adopted Figma’s browser‑based collaborative design tool (using its Team Library and Styles) as their single source of truth.

Midway through the project they migrated Sketch files into Figma and used Figma to build a flexible, enterprise design system that harmonised components and brand variations across colleges. Figma enabled real‑time collaboration between designers, developers, agencies and executives (the team reported seeing benefits within three days), sped up page creation, simplified feedback, and helped UAL launch the new website on time while providing a living, accessible set of brand assets.
