Mitsubishi Electric cuts prototype build time from two weeks to one day with Figma

Mitsubishi Electric, a comprehensive electrical manufacturer, faced challenges in unifying its fragmented design approach across diverse business units and overcoming a shortage of UI designers and software engineers. To address this, they adopted Figma as their foundational design and collaboration tool, which led to the creation of their own AI-conscious design system, the Serendie Design System (SDS).

Using Figma, Mitsubishi Electric built the SDS to enable efficient co-creation both internally and with external partners. The solution integrated an in-house MCP server with Figma for AI-powered tasks like vibe coding and compliance checks. Results include cutting prototype build time from two weeks to one day in one project, quadrupling demo cycles, and halving sprint durations from three to six weeks. Figma also facilitated real-time prototyping in meetings, dramatically accelerating validation and development cycles.
