Why Power Design Switched to Fieldwire from PlanGrid

Power Design, one of the nation’s leading electrical contractors, needed a more scalable construction management platform after identifying shortcomings with PlanGrid. VDC Technology Manager Brad Moore led a search for a dependable, contractor-focused solution and selected Fieldwire by Hilti to support companywide workflows, task management, and a long-term product roadmap.

Using Fieldwire by Hilti’s platform and API, Power Design migrated off PlanGrid in eight weeks with zero downtime—transferring 227 projects worth more than $1.4 billion, roughly 100,000 documents, tasks, and photos (about two terabytes), onboarding 2,100 users, and deploying 2,000 iPads following 16 regional trainings. The rollout delivered immediate gains in collaboration and transparency across dispersed teams and set Power Design up for full company adoption by 2020 and scalable growth toward its 2027 goals.
