Certified Lights, led by Scott Young, is a holiday lighting company that evolved from a family pest control business. Facing seasonal slowdowns, constant spring hiring and lengthy training, and frustration with an unwieldy software provider, Certified Lights needed an easy-to-use system with better reporting and mobile capabilities—so they turned to FieldRoutes (formerly PestRoutes).
FieldRoutes provided a simple, feature-rich platform with mobile tools, scheduling, reporting and a customer payment portal that cut training from weeks to a day and enabled quick onboarding of seasonal crews. As a result, Certified Lights grew from about $3M in 2015 to nearly $6M within three years (now a $5M+ company), improved renewal rates to 85%, increased net margins to ~30%, smoothed year‑round revenue, and ultimately sold their pest control business to focus entirely on holiday lighting—outcomes Scott credits to FieldRoutes.
