How One Acre Fund is Transforming Agriculture Across Africa, and using FieldPro for digitising farmers’ training, inspection, certification, and payment

One Acre Fund, a non-profit organization supplying smallholder farmers in East Africa, sought a digital solution to manage the complex process of obtaining Global GAP certification and sourcing avocados. Their challenge involved training and inspecting over 300 farmers, tracking field activities, and implementing an instant payment system to facilitate trade and ensure compliance. To meet these needs, they partnered with vendor FieldPro to implement its FieldPro AgriSourcing solution.

FieldPro deployed a customized mobile application to digitize farmer training, inspections, risk assessments, and scouting workflows. A key feature was the integration of transactional purchase workflows with the Beyonic payment platform, enabling instant mobile money payments to farmers upon the sale of their produce. The solution provided real-time performance dashboards for supervisors. As a result, FieldPro helped One Acre Fund ensure compliance for certification and reliably source from smallholders, with the tool deployed to 35 users in Kenya by 2021 with plans for further integrations.
