Modernistic Cleaning & Restoration, a Plainwell, Mich. commercial and residential cleaning and restoration company, struggled with a slow, paper-based work order process that undermined its promise of fast, responsive service. Administrative staff printed and repeatedly checked carbon-copy work orders, technicians carried stacks of paper, and back-office invoicing required one employee six hours a day plus two hours of end-of-day checks—creating many manual touches and frequent delays.

In March 2014 Modernistic deployed FieldAware, a cloud-based, mobile field service platform used by 30 technicians on tablets and 25 office users. Jobs are entered and dispatched via a map view, technicians update orders and accept payments offline on the tablet, and data is pushed into QuickBooks in minutes. The result: faster invoicing, real-time visibility into crews and job status, far fewer manual touches and calls, quick staff training, and significant time savings.
