A Fictiv Case Study
TransMed7, a Portola Valley medical device company developing Zero5® technology for advanced biopsy diagnostics and cardiovascular interventions, faced slow, costly prototype iteration and the need for a partner who could seamlessly scale production. To avoid prohibitive traditional development costs, TransMed7 turned to Fictiv’s cloud manufacturing network and services, leveraging Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing, CNC, and injection molding.
Fictiv automated vendor sourcing, quoting, and quality control and provided manufacturing and regulatory guidance, cutting SLS lead times from 2–3 weeks to 3–5 days and reducing injection‑molding timelines from months to weeks. With Fictiv, TransMed7 shortened design cycles from weeks to days, accelerated NPI timelines (shaving roughly 8 years off earlier development timelines and enabling five breakthrough devices to advance), and saved millions in infrastructure and overhead while maintaining strict quality standards.
