A Fictiv Case Study
Nexkey, a San Mateo–based physical security company, set out to launch the Nexkey Solo—the world’s first smart wireless door strike—but faced a classic low-volume/high-precision NPI challenge: each unit required sets of 15 unique CNC‑machined parts, with a go-to-market ramp from 60 units to 120 in month two and a target of 1,000 units/month within the first year. Quality and repeatability were non‑negotiable, and Nexkey needed a manufacturing partner that could de-risk prototyping while enabling agile, scaleable production.
Fictiv stepped in with its digital manufacturing ecosystem—providing high‑precision CNC machining, post‑processing, and program management via a technical program manager—to deliver rapid, de‑risked NPI and single‑source continuity. The result: competitive pricing, consistently high-quality parts on demand, unprecedented build‑to‑order time and cost efficiencies, and the ability for Nexkey to hold minimal inventory while scaling production to their targets, improving cash flow and investor confidence.
