Case Study: Bank Windhoek achieves AML compliance with FICO TONBELLER

A FICO TONBELLER Case Study

Preview of the Bank Windhoek Case Study

Bank Windhoek Compliant with Namibian Regulation and International AML Standards

Bank Windhoek, a major Namibian bank and subsidiary of Bank Windhoek Holdings, faced pressure to meet stringent anti-money laundering and know-your-customer requirements under Financial Intelligence Centre and Bank of Namibia deadlines, while also aligning with evolving FATF-driven standards. The bank needed a comprehensive, integrated compliance approach covering customer risk, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and strong governance across its existing IT landscape. FICO TONBELLER was selected to provide the Siron® anti-financial crime suite, including Siron®RAS, Siron®KYC, Siron®AML, Siron®Embargo, and Siron®RCC.

FICO TONBELLER implemented a risk-based solution that began with a full risk assessment and heat map, then integrated Siron®KYC into customer onboarding and Siron®AML into ongoing monitoring, with Siron®Embargo planned for real-time screening. The project went live on schedule in April 2014 for RAS, KYC, and AML, giving Bank Windhoek immediate customer risk classification, PEP identification, and improved ability to fine-tune detection scenarios. As a result, Bank Windhoek achieved full compliance with local regulatory expectations, stronger resource efficiency, and a holistic 360-degree view of financial crime risk.
