Case Study: Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD achieves next-generation cloud learning with FiberLight dark fiber

A FiberLight Case Study

HEB ISD delivers next-generation learning for 23,000 students with FiberLight

The Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (HEB ISD) anticipated the shift to cloud-based education and sought to upgrade its network infrastructure to become a Google District. Their challenge was scaling up bandwidth and increasing capacity to data centers to support 100% accessibility to learning applications from any device. To achieve this, HEB ISD partnered with FiberLight for a dark fiber solution.

FiberLight implemented a 10 Gbps dark fiber backbone with Ethernet point-to-point connections, linking the district's 30 campuses and two data centers with mirrored redundancy. This solution provided the heightened speed, reliability, and security required for cloud-based learning. The results included 99.9% uptime and the ability to livestream events, all with 80% of expenses covered by E-rate reimbursement.
