Case Study: Amarillo Independent School District achieves greater network control and scalability with FiberLight dark fiber

A FiberLight Case Study

Amarillo Independent School District deploys 70-mile dark fiber network with FiberLight

The Amarillo Independent School District (AISD) faced a significant challenge when the cost for its existing 1Gbps network services was set to skyrocket from $14,000 to nearly half a million dollars per month. The district's current infrastructure could not support the robust bandwidth and on-site hosting required for modern digital learning and security measures, making a financially viable upgrade impossible. AISD chose the vendor FiberLight to implement a solution.

FiberLight deployed a 70-mile dark fiber network expansion for the school district. This solution, which was 100% subsidized through federal and state funding programs, provided AISD with greater control, enhanced security, and high-capacity connectivity. The new infrastructure also allowed the district to cover 80% of its equipment costs, positioning it for long-term growth and enabling student access to digital opportunities.
