West Coast Insulated Glass Products, a Southern California supplier of high-end insulating glass to window and door manufacturers, faced rising quality challenges as IG units grew larger and coatings became more delicate. To ensure and demonstrate superior quality they installed a FeneVision LineScanner for automated inspection.
The FeneVision LineScanner, positioned after the washer, detects tiny coating and contamination defects beyond human vision and helps inspectors locate, archive and analyze faults. Inspection time for large lites dropped from five minutes to one (about an 80% reduction), more defects are caught before costly downstream processing (avoiding the 3–4× higher cost of late rejections), and the system has improved traceability, reduced rework and become a competitive marketing advantage; West Coast is adding more FeneVision units.
