Church It Team Creates Mobile Check-In System for Fellowshipone

McLean Bible Church, a nine-campus ministry in the Washington, D.C. area, needed a reliable, easy-to-set-up check-in system for a new campus that met in a music center and required weekly teardown. They wanted FellowshipOne check-in stations with minimal failure points and later faced a second challenge when the new meeting site had no network drops available.

The church IT team built “Check‑in a Box”: four Dell Inspiron Duo tablets, Zebra label printers with a PS4000 wireless print server, and a compact wireless router, later upgraded with a mobile‑broadband–capable MBR1200 and MiFi for off‑site use. The solution delivered portable, streamlined check-in (even outdoors), preserved attendance and volunteer tracking, and proved adaptable—while the team documented practical tips (e.g., avoid 4G/Wi‑Fi interference) for reliable operation.
