Project Sampoorna The School Management System Every Indian Student Deserves

Sampoorna, launched by the Government of Kerala as Project Sampoorna, faced the challenge of reliably tracking and managing school records for millions of students and hundreds of thousands of staff across the state. To replace fragmented, labor-intensive processes and enable a paperless, scalable system, Sampoorna was built on Fedena’s open‑source database and server software to centralize student, teacher and administrative data.

Using Fedena’s platform, Sampoorna delivered a statewide school management solution that automated transfer certificates, admission registers, progress reports, scholarship lists, exam and promotion lists, timetables and more. The Fedena‑based system was later mandated across Kerala, covering about 15,000 schools, over 7,000,000 students and more than 300,000 teachers, and produced measurable savings of roughly $10 million per year through reduced labor and resource costs.
