Songa Offshore - Customer Case Study

Songa Offshore, a global drilling contractor, required 24/7 travel management for its remote crews. They faced a critical challenge when a crew member suffered a medical emergency on an oil rig traveling between Singapore and South Korea, leaving the patient in dire need of urgent care far from any major port. The vendor, FCM Travel, was tasked with creating a rapid emergency plan.

FCM Travel implemented a two-phase solution. They first diverted the ship to Taiwan and, in under two hours, had a local contact meet the vessel to provide currency, arranged immediate medical treatment, and supported the patient and a carer during a five-day hospital stay. For phase two, FCM organized all travel arrangements for the patient's safe return home to Australia. As a result of FCM Travel's coordinated global response, the crew member was safely returned to his home just seven days after the incident.
