The customer, JTI (Japan Tobacco International), was a global company with a fragmented network of over 16 travel agencies. Their challenge was to consolidate this into a single global travel management partner to drive standardization and savings. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, JTI, with support from vendor FCM Travel, had to pivot its RFP process to be entirely virtual while its priorities shifted from online booking tools to emphasizing traveler safety and offline support.

JTI selected FCM Travel as its global partner after a transparent RFP process that focused on cultural fit and FCM’s technology stack. The solution implemented by FCM Travel addressed the need for both global governance and local support, helping JTI consolidate its travel program. The decision was ratified by JTI's board and CEO in December 2020, successfully achieving the objective of moving to a single global travel management company.
