A FCM Travel Case Study

Preview of the Bechtel Corporation Case Study

How engineering firm, Bechtel Corporation, challenged travel partners to launch a first-of-its-kind NDC pilot program

Bechtel Corporation, a global engineering firm, sought to improve its corporate travel booking experience to better mirror consumer-like simplicity and options. Their travel manager, David Weaver, initiated a search for partners capable of implementing a New Distribution Capability (NDC) pilot program after his previous TMC was unable to meet this challenge. He selected FCM Travel as the new travel management company to lead the project in collaboration with SAP Concur and United Airlines.

FCM Travel helped implement a first-of-its-kind NDC pilot program, starting with United Airlines bundles that included airfare with checked bags or Wi-Fi. The solution involved intricate technical configuration to handle online booking, servicing, and specialized invoicing for Bechtel's commercial and government travelers. Key milestones achieved through FCM's partnership include successful bundle purchasing, traveler entitlement recognition, invoice itemization, and establishing a duty of care process, validating the program's initial success and paving the way for a scalable global solution.
