Groupon, a global e-commerce marketplace, partnered with FCM Travel to manage its travel program for 3,000 employees. A significant challenge emerged as the company's finance teams relied on inaccurate data from a custom reporting field for Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs), which was being filled with misspelled and incorrect names by travelers, hindering effective spend analysis and budgetary control.

FCM Travel implemented a two-part solution: a drop-down menu for SVP selection to prevent future errors and a data translation table to correct historical inaccuracies. This process cleaned up 43 different SVP name variations into 14 correct ones, accurately reallocating over $9 million in travel spend across more than 15,000 bookings. The solution provided Groupon's finance team with the reliable data needed for precise budget management and data-driven decision-making.
