Storytel, the Stockholm-based audiobooks and streaming service, needed help launching a new homepage when slow load times made it impossible to release globally. Working with Fastly and its CDN, Storytel turned to a better caching strategy to solve the performance problem and support a smooth customer experience.

Fastly implemented a solution centered on stale-while-revalidate caching, using its CDN, customizable VCL, global delivery network, TLS, and enterprise support. The result was dramatic: Storytel said cache-hit response times dropped to mere milliseconds, at least 100x faster than origin response times, and a fix that could have taken six months was completed in about two hours.
