Mediaset España, Spain’s audiovisual market leader, needed a way to make on-demand and live video available across all its platforms while moving toward a multi-CDN setup that could improve quality, availability, and control costs. Its existing cloud-based streaming architecture in Azure created integration and egress-cost challenges, and Mediaset España turned to Fastly and its CDN/Compute offerings to fit into the preexisting ecosystem without major development changes.

Fastly implemented a joint Azure and Fastly solution that enabled video streams to be adjusted at the edge for different devices and formats, including smart TVs, web, iOS, Android, and browsers. Testing was completed in two weeks and full deployment in about a month and a half. According to Mediaset España, Fastly significantly reduced origin traffic and requests, while improving performance, scalability, and security across all video streaming subdomains.
