Kubernetes ensures its scalability by relying on Fastly

Kubernetes, one of the world’s largest open source projects, needed a way to support rapid growth in website traffic and binary downloads at global scale. As dl.k8s.io began serving over 5 petabytes of binaries each month, the team turned to Fastly and its CDN service to improve speed, reliability, and worldwide delivery.

Fastly implemented a global CDN and observability tools that gave Kubernetes better visibility into traffic, origin behavior, and bandwidth usage. The move was seamless for users, improved delivery closer to customers around the world, and helped keep egress costs low while supporting 90 million monthly requests, 1 PB of bandwidth, and 1.2 billion logs on the site in 2024.
