Case Study: Rawlings Sporting Goods achieves scalable, high‑yield production of the REV1X glove with Fast Radius

A Fast Radius Case Study

Preview of the Rawlings Sporting Goods Case Study

Revolutionizing the baseball glove with industrial-grade additive manufacturing

Rawlings Sporting Goods set out to revolutionize the baseball glove with the REV1X, replacing traditional foam and wool with latticed FPU 50 inserts prototyped using the Carbon Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) process. After perfecting the design, Rawlings Sporting Goods needed a manufacturing partner to scale production while meeting strict performance, durability, timing, and cost targets—Fast Radius was engaged to move the REV1X from development to industrial production.

Fast Radius deployed its fleet of Carbon DLS printers, Additive Launch services, and the Fast Radius Cloud Manufacturing Platform to optimize the lattice inserts for manufacturability, refine printing and post-processing for FPU 50, and capture repeatable build packages. The result: reliable, repeatable production that improved part yield by more than 4x, enabled an on-time, on-budget commercial launch of the REV1X, and established scalable manufacturing capacity for ongoing sales.
