Evans Motorsport Performance (EMP) designed a specialty aftermarket strut tower cover for the Chevrolet Corvette C8 but ran into manufacturing roadblocks: complex geometry made CNC machining prohibitively expensive (~$4,800 a set), injection molding required costly tooling, and FDM prototypes couldn’t meet under‑hood temperature, durability, or finish requirements. EMP turned to Fast Radius, which recommended the Carbon Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) process and EPX 82 material to produce a viable end‑use part.

Fast Radius used Carbon DLS with EPX 82 to print a prototype that fit perfectly and immediately moved EMP into low‑volume production; the vendor printed and shipped the entire run in about 5 days, delivering automotive‑quality finish and high‑temperature performance. The solution saved thousands per part versus CNC machining and about $12,000 in tooling costs, enabling EMP to meet demand quickly without large upfront investment.
