The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR), after successfully implementing a new tax system in 2015, sought to further enhance its collections capabilities. Faced with new challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and staffing shortages by 2020, the agency aimed to completely reinvent its processes through greater analytics and automation. This led them to partner with their existing vendor, Fast Enterprises, to pilot its new analytics-driven software solution, Fast Collection Services (FCS).

Fast Enterprises implemented FCS, which uses unique data algorithms to analyze taxpayer behavior and provide tailored action recommendations for collections officers. The solution automated key processes and provided staff with critical information at their fingertips. The measurable results were significant, including a major increase in revenue; fees collected from one program doubled from $3 million to $6 million annually after FCS was implemented. The successful project positioned the SCDOR for future growth and established a new baseline for collections practices.
