The Louisiana Department of Revenue faced a significant challenge with its outdated, 25-year-old legacy system, which was extremely cumbersome to maintain and made implementing changes, like a tax amnesty, a horrendous task. Seeking a more flexible and scalable solution, the department chose to partner with vendor Fast Enterprises and license its GenTax software, a commercial tax system built on Microsoft technology.

By implementing Fast Enterprises' GenTax system, the department created the DELTA Project, an integrated tax system that was estimated to cost one-half to one-quarter of similar government projects. The solution greatly increased efficiency, automated manual processes, and provided a real-time, consolidated view of taxpayer accounts. The project was completed on time and under budget, successfully integrating 20 taxes and generating new revenue while saving money through improved operational efficiency.
