St.Edward’s University - Customer Case Study

St. Edward’s University, an Austin-based institution, faced a challenge in managing 1,800 diverse workstations across its campus and a remote location in France. Their small IT team, led by Jason Arellano and Brant Christiansen, was spending a tremendous amount of time manually patching operating systems and applications. They partnered with Faronics and initially deployed Deep Freeze to simplify maintenance but sought further automation to eliminate manual updates.

Faronics provided the Deep Freeze Cloud Connector, which integrated with the university's existing systems to automate software and Windows updates. This solution saved the IT team hundreds of hours of work annually, reducing the time spent per computer to approximately 20 minutes per year. Additional benefits included usage statistics that optimized software licensing and a mobile app for remote management. Faronics also identified potential annual energy savings of over $2,000 on just 200 computers using its Power Save tool.
