A Faronics Case Study
Lewis and Clark Community College, a two-year institution in Illinois, faced significant challenges in managing its 28 computer labs. Instructors struggled with students being distracted by the internet, had difficulty guiding students to specific web pages, and found that students were hesitant to ask questions during class for fear of embarrassment. The college's IT team identified a need for a solution to gain control over the classroom computers and improve student engagement.
The college implemented Faronics Insight, a classroom technology management solution, across its 2,000 workstations. The software provided instructors with tools to monitor student screens, blank displays, share their own screen, block applications, and offer remote assistance. This allowed for more efficient communication and helped keep students focused. As a result, Faronics helped Lewis and Clark recapture valuable instructional time, reduce paper waste through print limiting, and create a less disruptive environment where students could ask for help confidentially.
