Triumph Aerospace halves processing time with FANUC

Triumph Aerospace faced challenges with aging Cincinnati Milacron skin mills, including dwindling performance and high replacement costs. The company needed to increase productivity, reduce part damage from power bumps, and improve machine capabilities without a full replacement. They engaged vendor FANUC America Corporation and FANUC authorized system integrator Microtrol Engineering for a solution involving CNC controls.

Microtrol Engineering implemented a retrofit solution, stripping out and replacing all electrical equipment and controls with new FANUC CNC systems, including the FANUC 31i-MODEL B5 and 30i-MODEL B. This allowed for accurate, high-speed machining. The results for Triumph Aerospace were significant: processing times were cut in half, the risk of damage to parts was minimized, and scrap was eliminated entirely, leading to major production improvements and cost savings.
