Southern Stone Surfaces, a countertop fabricator based in Nashville, TN, faced challenges with its legacy CNC stone routers. The company needed to significantly increase production to meet demand but was constrained by limited labor resources and an inability to expand its operational footprint. To overcome these hurdles, they partnered with vendor FANUC America Corporation and system integrator Better Built Machines for a new automated stone cutting solution.

The solution implemented was the integration of three Paladin slab cutting machines driven by FANUC CNC Series 0i-MF Plus controls and servo motors. This new setup from FANUC America and Better Built Machines replaced four older machines, resulting in a 33% increase in production and a 15% decrease in costs. The improved precision boosted quality and reduced material waste, while the intuitive controls significantly shortened operator training time.
