Stockholm deployed Open Payment validators to modernize its public transport network

SL, Stockholm, the public transport operator for Region Stockholm, needed to modernize its transit network and improve passenger experience by deploying an Open Payment system that could accept contactless bank cards and digital wallets. To do this, they required future-proof validators, payment-capable hardware, and centralized device management.

Famoco, together with Worldline and Modulsystem, provided the FX925 Pay&Pass validators built on Famoco OS and managed through Famoco MDM. The deployment of 300 validators enabled SL to support more than 3 million trips per day across trains, buses, streetcars, metros, and boats, allowing riders to validate journeys with any contactless payment method.
