Providing Cashless experience at Zando Cape Town 10s with tappit

Tappit needed a faster, more seamless cashless payment experience for the 2018 Zando Cape Town 10s, South Africa’s largest social sport and lifestyle event, which drew over 20,000 spectators and 350 teams. The organiser wanted an RFID-based system that could reduce queues, improve transactions, and integrate with Quicket and Peach Payments for ticketing, access control, top-ups, and reconciliation. Famoco provided the mobile devices used to support the event’s cashless operations.

Famoco deployed 300 devices for event access and payment processing as part of tappit’s integrated solution, which included wristbands/cards, online and onsite top-up, vendor portals, and offline-capable transaction management. The system handled 94,315 transactions over three days across 33 vendors, delivering a faster, safer, and easier experience for attendees, vendors, and organisers, while simplifying cash management and speeding reconciliation.
