Google, working with Equity Bank’s BebaPay in Kenya, needed a cashless payment service that complied with new government laws and helped reduce fraud in public transport. Famoco provided the dedicated FX100 device for ticket inspectors, supporting secure card acceptance and contactless payments.

Famoco’s Android-based FX100 used NFC to let inspectors debit BebaPay cards on buses, while keeping the device locked to a single task and reducing theft risk. The result was a smarter, more secure payment system that met Kenya’s new regulatory requirements, sped up collections, and significantly reduced fraud from unreported cash payments.
