Bamba Group, a Kenyan company with businesses in software, loyalty, and charity, wanted to create a real-time loyalty program that would reward customers while helping retailers increase sales. To do this, they partnered with Famoco and used Famoco devices as the secure point-of-sale touchpoint for their Bamba Rewards program.

Famoco enabled customers to register by SMS or mobile number, and then earn 5% cash back directly into their m-Pesa accounts by entering their number or tapping an NFC loyalty card on the device. With Famoco’s remote management capabilities, Bamba could easily update apps and features across retailers. By the end of 2014, the program had 2,500 subscribers and was expanding rapidly, with partnerships in place to reach thousands more customers and hundreds of retailers.
