Rockwell Automation meets customer requirements without sacrificing performance with c-treeACE

Rockwell Automation, the world’s largest industrial automation company, needed an embedded database for its Studio 5000 engineering suite that could store project files, metadata and device data with very high throughput, resilience and fine‑grained low‑level control—without adding administration overhead or sacrificing performance. To meet these requirements it selected FairCom’s c-treeACE embedded database to integrate directly into Studio 5000’s persistence layer.

FairCom implemented c-treeACE as a lightweight, highly configurable embedded engine (with SDKs, low‑level APIs and both SQL and NoSQL interfaces) that Rockwell configured into tables holding all customer content. The result: c-treeACE has powered Studio 5000 for more than 20 years, enabling data‑intensive features with minimal caching, delivering the performance, integration and tunability Rockwell required, and reducing manual database administration while maintaining high throughput and reliability.
