Ministry of Defence accelerates AI adoption with Faculty through 4 Defence use cases

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) sought to enhance its defence capabilities and gain strategic advantages through artificial intelligence but faced significant hurdles related to security, assurance, and trust. To navigate these challenges, they partnered with the vendor Faculty to work with the Defence AI Centre Experimentation Hub (DAIC-X) and demonstrate the value of AI use cases.

Faculty tested AI solutions across several use cases, including programming autonomous UAV behaviour, satellite object detection, and language model intelligence. This work successfully accelerated AI development within the MOD by proving its value to stakeholders and laid the foundation for a secure, bespoke large language model. Faculty's solution equipped UK Defence to become AI-ready by providing prototypes and overcoming key adoption barriers.
