A Factual Case Study

The Future of Smart Earbuds is Here, Powered by Engine

Doppler Labs built the Here One wireless smart earbuds with a companion app feature called Smart Suggest that automatically detects a user’s real-world context to recommend Noise Filters and volume settings. To deliver the high-accuracy location intelligence required, Doppler Labs evaluated several options and selected Factual’s Engine mobile SDK to provide location data and place categories for their app.

Factual’s Engine mobile SDK uses a machine-learning model that factors in place popularity, business density and hours, lay of the land, and accelerometer motion to classify environments (restaurants, airports, offices, etc.), enabling Smart Suggest to recommend the appropriate Noise Filter in real time. The result is a more personalized, context-aware audio experience that Doppler Labs says delivers the most accurate and relevant location results and will become smarter and more useful as users continue to use it.
