Innovation in Online Learning a New Model for the Modern Association

The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) needed a better way to ensure consistent judging and exhibitor understanding across 30 disciplines. Its lengthy, photo-heavy rulebook left room for interpretation, rules change annually, and previous methods of republishing and distributing updates were costly and error-prone—creating inconsistent judging, frustrated participants, and a need for scalable, up-to-date training.

APHA partnered with CD2 Learning to build Horse IQ, a web-based training system featuring videos, simulations, and expert judge commentary that puts learners “in the ring.” The platform offers subscription access, easy content updates, and tracking; an initial soft rollout earned uniformly positive feedback and attracted interest from other breed associations. APHA plans to expand disciplines, begin intensive marketing, and pursue ambitious membership growth, positioning Horse IQ as a model for online association training.
