Coop a personal online supermarket for every customer

The Swedish grocery chain Coop aimed to boost its online sales, which lagged behind at around 5% of total revenue. Their challenge was that the online shopping experience was often cumbersome and lacked the inspiration found in physical stores. To overcome this, Coop partnered with vendor FactFinder (via its acquisition of Loop54) to implement an AI-based personalization solution.

FactFinder's solution utilized a self-learning search engine to create a highly personalized experience for customers. It provided individualized product selections and search results by analyzing a user's past purchases and the behavior of similar shoppers. This resulted in a 6% increase in customer interaction rates with the app. The solution is also planned for expansion into physical stores to enhance the in-person shopping experience.
