The Erwin Quarder Group, a manufacturer of technical plastic automotive parts, faced industry pressure to increase productivity and improve its OEE after tracking data with an in-house solution. Their challenge was to find a tool to seamlessly enhance performance on critical machines not meeting output targets, which led to a pilot program initiated with vendor Factbird.

Factbird implemented its IoT gateway devices, starting with a pilot on two production lines. Due to its intuitive design that drove operator engagement, the solution was expanded across all plants using the Factbird NX1 device for superior data collection on scrap reasons. This provided detailed, automated insights into disruptions and the impact of minor adjustments. The results were a 20% increase in OEE, from around 60% to well above 80%, and a reduction in scrap rates from 5-6% to below 1% in a matter of weeks.
