A Facility Solutions Group Case Study
The Port Authority of NY and NJ, a major bus terminal operator, faced the challenge of upgrading its extensive lighting system at its New York City facility, the world's busiest bus terminal. Operating 24/7, the project required minimizing disruption to over 200,000 daily commuters. They partnered with Facility Solutions Group (FSG) to replace outdated, inefficient lighting in parking garages, ramps, concourses, and office areas, which included complex work in high-ceiling locations.
Facility Solutions Group installed new induction, LED, and high-efficiency fluorescent fixtures to replace the old High-Pressure Sodium and HID lighting. This solution provided better light quality and significantly longer lamp life. The project was completed successfully without disrupting terminal operations. The results included improved light levels and appearance, substantial energy savings, and a dramatic extension of maintenance cycles, with garage lamps now lasting over eleven years compared to less than three years previously.
