Greenville Deploys Smart Cities Initiative Utilizing Cooperative Purchasing

The City of Greenville sought to become a "Smart City" and implement new mobility and technology solutions. To address this challenge, they partnered with vendor Facility Solutions Group, utilizing the AEPA Cooperative Purchasing contract to streamline the process.

Facility Solutions Group implemented a pilot project that upgraded 2.5 miles of roadway with state-of-the-art LED lights and smart technologies. The solution included lighting control nodes, integrated video cameras for traffic, and ultra-wide band positioning for autonomous vehicles. The energy savings from the LED fixtures are projected to pay for the entire project in under seven years, and the cooperative purchasing agreement helped the city reduce procurement costs.
