FSG Upgrades the Lighting at the Lincoln Tunnel

The Port Authority of NY and NJ, a major toll bridge and tunnel authority, faced the challenge of upgrading the lighting system at its heavily trafficked Lincoln Tunnel to improve efficiency and illumination. The authority engaged vendor Facility Solutions Group to perform a multi-phase LED lighting upgrade across the tunnel's tubes, roadways, and plazas, which required careful planning to minimize disruption.

Facility Solutions Group implemented the solution by replacing over 5,000 High-Pressure Sodium fixtures with custom and architectural LED lights designed for the unique tunnel environment. The results were significant, including an annual energy reduction of over 3 million kWh and energy savings of $641,855. FSG successfully completed the installation with minimal disruption to the busy roadway, while the new lighting also provided superior illumination and drastically reduced maintenance costs.
