FSG Upgrades Lighting At Holland Tunnel

The Port Authority of NY and NJ required a lighting upgrade for the historic Holland Tunnel to improve efficiency and performance. Their challenge was to modernize a vast array of outdated HID and fluorescent lighting systems both inside the tunnel's vent buildings and across its extensive outdoor roadways and plazas. Facility Solutions Group was engaged to implement an LED lighting upgrade solution.

Facility Solutions Group replaced over 1,800 fixtures with new LED technology, including exterior and explosion-proof models. The results were drastically improved color rendering and crisp white light, along with significant energy savings of 684,119 kWh per year, which translates to over $118,000 in annual cost savings. The project also extended lamp life and provided long-term reliability with a 10-year warranty.
