FSG Upgrades Lighting and HVAC at 5 Correctional Facilities

The GEO Group, a provider of corrections and detention services, sought to perform energy efficiency upgrades at five of their New Jersey correctional facilities. Their challenge was to modernize their infrastructure to achieve significant energy savings and reduce maintenance costs with minimal operational disruption. Facility Solutions Group (FSG) was engaged to perform the energy efficiency upgrade, which included updating lighting and HVAC systems.

Facility Solutions Group implemented the project by upgrading all interior and exterior lighting to new, efficient technologies and replacing 295 tons of rooftop HVAC units. The results were substantial, yielding over $315,000 in annual energy savings and drastically increasing the lifespan of exterior lighting fixtures. FSG also secured a utility rebate from PSE&G that covered 80% of the project's costs, ensuring a very short payback period for the customer.
